What Is COVID-19?
The novel coronavirus, which causes a disease known as COVID-19, is spreading from person to person in parts of the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention the potential public health threat posed by COVID-19 is very high. This is a rapidly evolving situation and the CDC's risk assessment will be updated as needed.
What Is COVID-19 Antibody Testing?
The coronavirus antibody blood test (COVID-19 antibody testing) is a FDA Approved test that helps check for antibodies in the blood to the novel coronavirus. COVID-19 Antibody Testing is also referred to as coronavirus serological test. We will explain how it works. Individuals who have already been infected and recovered from SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) will sometimes generate what is known as antibodies to COVID-19. These COVID-19 antibodies are detectable in the blood, typically within 10-14 days of an individual contracting COVID-19. Lynx Healthcare can determine if you have obtained these antibodies using antibody testing. It is important to note that the relationship between COVID-19 Antibody positivity and immunity to SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) has not yet been firmly established.
COVID-19 Antibody Testing Process
You COVID-19 Antibody test is performed through a simple blood draw. Once the blood is drawn, the specimen is analyzed to measure what level of antibodies exist in the blood through a FDA Approved process in our CAP Accredited and CLIA Certified Laboritory. During COVID-19 antibody testing, the blood test checks for coronavirus antibodies that suggest that one has developed antibodies to coronavirus or COVID-19. At this time, the relationship between the presence of COVID-19 antibodies and immunity to SARS-CoV-2 has not yet been firmly established.
COVID-19 Nasal Swab
For initial diagnostic testing for SARS-Cov-2 (COVID-19), the CDC recommends that Lynx Healthcare collects and test for an upper respiratory specimen also known as a Nasal Swab specimen. Lynx Healthcare will use Nasopharyngeal (NP) swabs to test asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic individuals to confirm whether or not she has COVID-19. Results from this test are important to determine rather or not a individual is contagious.
