In the beginning, treatment visits will be frequent, and you may experience some increase in discomfort. It may take several visits before you see results as your spine begins to adjust. Each adjustment builds on to the next one.
In general, there are three stages of chiropractic care throughout your treatment plan. Each stage is tailored to your specific needs, and all stages work toward your optimal health and well-being. Our chiropractors will work with you through each stage.
Patients who exhibit signs of pain and discomfort due to their current condition will begin at the therapeutic stage. The goal of this stage is to alleviate pain brought on by both chronic and acute injuries, such as sports injuries, auto accidents, work-related injuries, and the micro traumas we experience every day.
Treatment may include specific chiropractic adjustments for pain, cold and heat therapies, ultrasound, physical rehabilitation, and therapeutic massage.
Therapeutic massage combined with other therapeutic services is an excellent way to achieve injury rehabilitation and wellness goals. These are a few benefits of massage:
- Manage low back pain
- Help fibromyalgia pain
- Relieve tension headaches
- Reduce muscle tension
- Enhance exercise performance
- Sleep better
- Increase range of motion
- Reduce arthritis pain
- Promote relaxation
- Decrease stress
In this next stage of care, your pain should be reduced or alleviated; however, structural abnormalities and improper posture still remain. The goal of this stage is to improve function, correct underlying spinal conditions, and strengthen surrounding muscle tissue.
Common conditions are scoliosis and forward head posture, which can result in spinal degeneration and lead to abnormal pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.
Corrective treatment can include specific biomechanical adjustments, conditioning and strengthening exercises, and chiropractic adjustments.
After you have graduated from both the therapeutic and corrective care stages, you can maintain your spinal health and overall well-being through ongoing, preventive wellness treatment.
Wellness treatment may include chiropractic adjustments to maintain corrections, regular physical workouts, and massage therapy.
